A REAL CHANGE-MAKER "Bangalore Rising"

This lady exemplifies the adage, "Be the change you want to see".

People usually tolerate potholes and drive around them, others click images and share them on social media to shame the authorities and prompt them to take action. That is justified too, given the fact that civic authorities function with taxpayers' money, and the people have every right to question the laxity and apathy of these authorities.

But this 'Pothole Warrior' took matters into her own hands. She spent Rs 1000 on a cold asphalt mix to fill the pothole besides hiring two labourers for Rs 250 each, and set out to repair the road herself.

Potholes are responsible for a number of accidents every year that cause injury and death to the people. While the authorities must ensure proper upkeep of roads and infrastructure, sometimes steps like these become necessary to wake them up.
